SourceMod 1.5 nearing completion. Translators needed. Apr 08, 2013 16:32
SourceMod 1.5 is getting ever-closer completion and translatable strings are now frozen.

Translators now have a few weeks to update their languages.
There have been a few new phrases added to allow further localization, and you can use the translator tool to see what they are. When it comes time to release, we'll only export languages that have complete string support.

If after some time you notice that your native language isn't complete and you would like to help, please file a bug to be added as a translator.

SourceMod 1.5 will be a new major release including the following and more.
  • Official support for CS:GO (finally).
  • Overdue update of the SQLite library to current.
  • Better support for handling max human players and partial map names in L4D, L4D2, and Swarm (along with CS:GO).
  • Added SDK Hooks as a first-party extension.
  • Split all ep2v games to their own "engines" (only CS:S is done at the moment, the rest will be done before release. More on this later)
  • Added more native functionality for TF2 and CS:S.
  • Added support for runoff voting in mapchooser.
  • Added ability to use admin overrides with regular console commands.
  • Better validation of Steam IDs in the auth system to prevent even the craftiest of abuse.
  • Fixes for multiple issues with cloned handles.
  • And much more.

A final changelog, final list of api changes, and notes on compatibility changes with the ep2v extension binarys and gamedata will be available closer to or at time of actual release.

We really, really are finally getting this wrapped up after numerous delays, trying to keep up with Valve's updates to various games. It's been mostly feature-frozen for a while now, with work already started on 1.6. After strings are translated and some last compatibility changes are complete, we will finally be able to ship the stable SM 1.5.0 release.

SourceMod 1.4.7, Metamod:Source 1.9.2 released! Feb 06, 2013 23:30
I'm pleased to announce that SourceMod 1.4.7 and Metamod:Source 1.9.2 have been released.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Metamod:Source 1.9.2 release fixed loading issues on CS:S and CS:GO after recent game updates.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SourceMod 1.4.7 restores functionality for CS:S, TF2, DOD:S, and HL2DM after some changes for their linux client broke SM on linux servers.

Aside from that, it has some sweet bugfixes as we continue to improve the platform. See the release notes for a full changelog.

As always, you can get SourceMod from the downloads page. Some support links:

Thanks to the rest of the SM team as well as KyleS, Drifter, ProdigySim, Peace-Maker, VoiDeD for various fixes as well as Powerlord and FlaminSarge for updating the TF2 enum.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For SourceMod on CS:GO, a 1.5.0 snapshot build is still required; however, SM 1.5.0 is nearing the end of development and due out soon.

If you are already running a 1.5.0-dev snapshot, you likely have most or all of what's new in 1.4.7 and do not necessarily need to upgrade.

If you're on a version older than 1.4.7, we certainly encourage an upgrade.

2013-01-23 CS:GO Update Jan 23, 2013 13:53
Today's major CS:GO update is now here.

For more info, see the last news post.

The following updates are required for now onward on CS:GO until the next releases of MM:S and SM.

Upcoming CS:GO update Jan 17, 2013 07:48
As some of you already know, Valve currently has a rather large (internally) update to CS:GO planned to release next Wednesday (2013-01-23). This will be very similar to the breaking (for us) update that was released on Christmas Eve and subsequently rolled back a couple of days later.

In addition to requiring a new SM 1.5.0-dev snapshot after the update, some SM plugins will need to be updated as well if they wish to retain compatibility with CS:GO, particularly any plugin using the BfRead* or BfWrite* natives in bitbuffer.inc to read or write usermessages. More info about that can be found on the wiki, http://wiki.alliedmods.net/Protobuf.

While our update for this is just about ready, we're intentionally waiting on making new builds with support for it as to not confuse current CS:GO users. We will let you know when these are available. At the latest, it will be shortly before the update hits.

The CS:GO team has went out of their way to try to help us and other plugin developers prepare. Hats off to them.

After the dust settles from this update, we hope to finally be able to wrap up a final SourceMod 1.5.0 release within a few weeks.

Update (2013-01-22): The changes for this are now in SourceMod dev snapshots. For more info, including extra tips on porting plugins, see this post

SourceMod 1.4.6, Metamod:Source 1.9.0 released! Sep 03, 2012 23:13
I'm pleased to announce that SourceMod 1.4.6 and Metamod:Source 1.9.0 have been released.

SourceMod 1.4.6 is a bugfix release, primarily just continue to update support for games as they receive updates themselves.

Other than that, this is a very minor update, including the following. See the release notes for a full changelog.
  • Added support for CS:S when running SM on MM:S 1.9.0.
  • Added some failsafes to prevent some crashes caused by plugins.
  • Fixed extensions not being able to block client connect properly with IClientListener.

You can get SourceMod from the downloads page. Some support links:

Update: Initially this news post, and the changes detailed above, actually related to the release of SourceMod 1.4.5 - 1.4.6 is bug-fix release to fix a critical bug discovered shortly after the release of 1.4.5.

Thanks to the rest of the SM team as well as KyleS for one of the crash fixes and a minor memory leak fix, Powerlord for helping with the TF2 define updates, and PimpinJuice for the IClientListener fix.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The MM:S 1.9.0 release primarily features support for CS:GO.

For SourceMod on CS:GO, a 1.5.0 snapshot build is still required as SM 1.5.0 is still in development, hopefully due out in the semi-near future.

In addition, CS:S is now treated as a separate engine from the other "Orangebox Valve" games to add stability as Valve are no longer keeping it in parity with the others.

For more info, see the MM:S site or the release notes.
